Work Hard, Play Hard

I am an avid recreational athlete and outdoorswoman whose interests include running, cycling, triathlon, skiing, backpacking, and more. I recommend the following events:

Triathlons and Multi-Sport

  • Claytor Lake Triathlon (2013), a sprint near Blacksburg, VA that ended a seven-year layoff during which I had two kids and got promoted twice
  • Our team (Tarred and Feathered) led most of the SPROUTE 2006 short course adventure race but were passed by a three-person team as they hauled their canoe up the hill in the last 200 m, Richmond, VA (race report)
  • Big Lick Triathlon (2005), an Olympic-distance race at Smith Mountain Lake near Roanoke, VA
  • Smith Mountain Lake Triathlon (2004), a fun sprint distance race near Roanoke, VA
  • Bandit's Challenge (2003), a hilly Olympic-distance race in Wilkesboro, NC
  • Ironman Canada (2001), a gorgeous, well-supported 2.4 mi swim, 112 mi bike ride, and 26.2 mile run through Penticton, British Columbia, (race report from 2001)
  • Wildflower Triathlon (2001), the Woodstock of triathlons (half-Ironman and Olympic) in San Luis Obispo, CA
  • Half Vineman (2001), a beautiful, well-organized half-Ironman in Sonoma, CA
  • Los Angeles Triathlon (2000), Los Angeles
  • Tri-for-Fun (2000), Sacramento
  • Tri-for-Fun (2000), Pleasanton
